The Fees

Anaesthetic Fees are applied in one of three ways:

Self-pay : anaesthetic fees are paid by you (the patient) direct to Bath Anaesthetic Group

Fixed price : anaesthetic fees are included within the ‘package price’ you pay to the Hospital

Insured : your insurance company will pay all or part of our fee, often leaving you with an excess or ‘shortfall’ to pay to us.

For insured patients we offer you a tool to estimate your bill

You may search using a unique surgical code (obtained from your surgeon’s secretary) or by a description of the procedure.

For each procedure, we charge a specific fee for our anaesthetic service. Insurance companies will pay a certain ‘benefit’ to their customers for each procedure. At most, our fees have increased in line with inflation over recent years, whilst many major insurers have not increased the ‘benefits’ they provide to you. In fact, some insurers have not increased their ‘benefits’ to patients for many years. The result is that there is often an excess (‘shortfall’ or ‘top-up fee’) for which you will be responsible.

For more than 5 years, our fees have risen at a rate significantly below UK Inflation.

Since insurers and individual policies vary, we strongly advise you to contact your insurer before your admission in order to clarify whether or not they will cover the full cost of your anaesthetic.

Bath Anaesthetic Group LLP are fully compliant with the guideline: Anaesthetic Practice in the Independent Sector produced in 2018 by the Association of Anaesthetists of Great Britain & Ireland.
